                            THE EARTH IS ROUND

I have recently heard that there are still people, even Christians that believe the Earth is flat. Wow! I could hardly believe that, in this day and age people still thinking the Earth is flat. There are so many reasons that debunk this theory and some of them are just simple little things you can see, if you are paying attention to the world around you. I know that the ''Flat Earthers'' will not accept all the proof that is given but the fact is the Earth is round. And whether you want to believe it or not it's not going to change the truth. Here are some of the many facts that say the earth is round, and some links to different countries who have taken satellite photos of the Earth (which I'll add at the end). I know the ''Flat Earthers'' are going to say that they are fake or photoshopped, (some of these photo's where taken before photoshop even existed), I believe the reason for this is because NASA did put fake clouds on some of the photos of the Earth. This is because NASA  wants to hide certain bases, and other structures, yes NASA does have alot to hide from us, but the shape of the Earth is not one of them!

Aristotle  Greek philosopher Aristotle (384-322 BC)
The shape of the Earth’s shadow, Aristotle observed, was round. If the Earth were flat, its shadow would have a much different form. Next, Aristotle considered the position of the North Star. The farther north you journeyed, the closer the North Star seemed to move to the middle of the sky. But if someone were to travel south of what we now call the equator, the North Star could not be seen at all. Finally, Aristotle watched ships sailing into port. He noticed that at a distance, he could see the tops of their sails before he saw the rest of the ship. Aristotle deduced that this was because of the curvature of the Earth. If we lived on a flat earth, none of Aristotle’s conclusions would be accurate.

Eratosthenes of Cyrene: was a Greek mathematician, geographer, poet, astronomer, and music theorist. He was a man of learning, becoming the chief

librarian at the Library of Alexandria. He invented the discipline of geography, including the terminology used today.
He is best known for being the first person to calculate the circumference of the Earth, which he did by applying a measuring system using stadia, a standard unit of measure during that time period. His calculation was remarkably accurate. He was also the first to calculate the tilt of the Earth's axis (again with remarkable accuracy). Additionally, he may have accurately calculated the distance from the Earth to the Sun and invented the leap day. He created the first map of the world, incorporating parallels and meridians based on the available geographic knowledge of his era.
Eratosthenes was the founder of scientific chronology; he endeavored to revise the dates of the chief literary and political events from the conquest of Troy. In number theory, he introduced the sieve of Eratosthenes, an efficient method of identifying prime numbers. He was a figure of influence in many fields. According to an entry in the Suda (a 10th-century reference), his critics scorned him, calling him Beta (the second letter of the Greek alphabet) because he always came in second in all his endeavors.  Nonetheless, his devotees nicknamed him Pentathlos after the Olympians who were well rounded competitors for he had proven himself to be knowledgeable in every area of learning.

Measurement of the Earth's circumference
Eratosthenes calculated the circumference of the Earth without leaving Egypt. He knew that at local noon on the summer solstice in Syene (modern Aswan, Egypt), the Sun was directly overhead. He knew this because the shadow of someone looking down a deep well at that time in Syene blocked the reflection of the Sun on the water. He measured the Sun's angle of elevation at noon on the same day in Alexandria. The method of measurement was to make a scale drawing of that triangle which included a right angle between a vertical rod and its shadow. This turned out to be 1/50th of a circle. Taking the Earth as spherical, and knowing both the distance and direction of Syene, he concluded that the Earth's circumference was fifty times that distance. His knowledge of the size of Egypt was founded on the work of many generations of surveying trips. Pharaonic bookkeepers gave a distance between Syene and Alexandria of 5,000

stadia (a figure that was checked yearly).  Some say that the distance was corroborated by inquiring about the time that it took to travel from Syene to Alexandria by camel. Carl Sagan says that Eratosthenes paid a man to walk and measure the distance. Some claim Eratosthenes used the Olympic stade of 176.4 m, which would imply a circumference of 44,100 km, an error of 10%,  but the 184.8 m Italian stade became (300 years later) the most commonly accepted value for the length of the stade,  which implies a circumference of 46,100 km, an error of 15%.  It was unlikely, even accounting for his extremely primitive measuring tools, that Eratosthenes could have calculated an accurate measurement for the circumference of the Earth. Two important assumptions he made (none of which are perfectly accurate) are
1)  That the distance between Alexandria and Syene was 5000 stades,
2) That the Earth was a perfect sphere.
Eratosthenes later rounded the result to a final value of 700 stadia per degree, which implies a circumference of 252,000 stadia, likely for reasons of calculation simplicity as the larger number is evenly divisible by 60.  Repeating Eratosthenes' calculation with more accurate data, the result is 40,074 km, which is 66 km different (0.16%) from the currently accepted polar circumference of the Earth.
Seventeen hundred years after Eratosthenes' death, while Christopher Columbus studied what Eratosthenes had written about the size of the Earth, he chose to believe, based on a map by Toscanelli, that the Earth's circumference was one-third smaller. Had Columbus set sail knowing that Eratosthenes' larger circumference value was more accurate, he would have known that the place that he made landfall was not Asia, but rather a New World

First Photo's Of The Earth
The first photo's taken of earth were taken on 24th October 1946 and please
these photo's are not photoshopped so don't even say it, any expert on photography can see they are the real thing and photoshopping only stated in 1990. After the end of World War II and years before the Sputnik satellite opened the space age, a group of soldiers and scientists in the New Mexico desert saw  the first pictures of Earth as seen from space. You can read the whole event and watch a video taken from the missile they launched with a camera in the link below

First Photo of Earth From a Weather Satellite, TIROS-1
The TIROS-1 spacecraft was launched on April 1, 1960, from Cape Canaveral, Florida, in the United States.

The first television picture sent from space by TIROS-1 showed the coast of Maine and Canada's Maritime Provinces.
Television Infrared Observation Satellite, sent the very first TV images from space to the ground station at Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. The pictures clearly showed the New England coast and Canada's Maritime Provinces north to the St. Lawrence River. The photos were airlifted pronto to Washington, D.C., to be presented to President Eisenhower.
TIROS-1 was an aluminum-and-stainless-steel drum measuring 42 inches in diameter, 19 inches high and weighing 270 pounds. An array of 9,200 solar cells powered its two TV cameras: one high-res, one low-res. One antenna received control signals from ground stations, and another four transmitted TV images back to Earth. Two video recorders stored images when the satellite was out of range of ground stations.

Explorer 6 satellite
Image of Earth taken from space. It was captured by the Explorer 6 satellite on 14 August 1959, from a height of about 27,000 kilometres (17,000 miles). Our capability to image Earth has certainly come a long way since then…

THE LUNAR ECLIPSE:
Aristotle who observed the earth a lot noticed that during lunar eclipses, this is when the earth’s orbit places it directly between the sun and the moon, creating a shadow in the process, the shadow on the moon’s surface is round. This is the shadow of the earth, and it shows the spherical shape of the earth
especially when it covers the moon completely the round earth covering the round moon  a person can see it as well with the naked eye. Also if the earth was flat it could never cover the sun the way it does

FLYING IN A PLANE:
If you fly in a plane especially the Concorde, they go so high if you look out of

the window you can see the curvature of the earth.

SHIPS ON THE HORIZON:
Approaching ships do not just appear out of the horizon like they should have if the earth was flat, they emerge from beneath the sea, ships do not submerge and rise up again as they approach our view. The reason ships appear as if they emerge from the waves is because the world is not flat  it’s round. This happens with sunrise and sunset as well.

VARYING STAR CONSTELLATIONS:
Again it was Aristotle who made this observation in 384-322 BCE, he said the earth was round judging from the different constellations a person sees while moving away from the equator. After a trip to Egypt, Aristotle noted that there are stars seen in Egypt and Cyprus which are not seen in the northerly regions. This phenomenon can only be explained if humans were viewing the stars from a round surface. Aristotle continued and claimed that the sphere of the earth is ''of no great size'', for otherwise the effect of so slight a change of place would not be quickly apparent.” (De caelo, 298a2-10)
The farther you go from the equator, the farther the ‘known’ constellations go towards the horizon, and are replaced by different stars. This would not have happened if the world was flat.

SHADOWS AND STICKS:
You can actually prove it with two sticks placed upright in the ground at noon on the northern summer solstice, with one on the tropic of cancer, and one well above the tropics. The stick on the tropic of cancer would cast no shadow, and

the stick above the tropics would have one. This only makes sense if the earth is round. You can actually measure the length of the shadow and calculate the circumference of the earth. Eratosthenes did this in 300 BC and calculated the circumference of the earth almost perfectly

THE EXISTENCE OF TIMEZONES:
We have time zones because when the Sun is illuminating one side of the spherical Earth, the other side is dark. this can only be explained if the world is round, and rotating around its own axis. At a certain point when the sun is shining on one part of the Earth, the opposite side is dark, That allows for time differences and timezones.
Also, If the sun was a spotlight  and the world was flat, we would have seen the sun even if it didn’t shine on top of us. The same way you can see the light coming out of a spotlight on a stage in the theatre, even though you  the crowd  are in the dark they can see the light. The only way to create two distinctly separate timezones, where there is complete darkness in one while there’s light in the other, is if the world is spherical.
There are many more reasons proving the earth is round., but I won't put them down. I would like to go to the bible because it also tells us the Earth is round

Night And Day
We have day and night alternately. Early morning, we see that the Sun rises in
the east and sets at sunset in the west always. During the night, we then see the stars move slowly towards east to west direction also. Actually, the Sun and the stars do not move around us! The Earth is the one moving around the Sun.
The pointed tip that goes through the middle of the top is the top’s axis. Similarly, the Earth has an axis but it is not straight up. This is because the Earth is not spinning upright. The Earth is slightly tilted or leaning on its side by 23.5O degrees while spinning toward the East.
Sunlight falls only on one side of the Earth. This side of the planet will be having daylight. Because the Earth is rotating, the opposite side of the Earth away from the Sun will be experiencing night. After some time, the part of the Earth experiencing daylight will experience night. Rotation of the Earth causes night and day to alternate.
Since we learned that the Earth’s axis is tilted and that the equator is not facing the Sun directly, different places on Earth would experience unequal length of days and nights—not exactly 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night all the time.
Different places in the Earth experiences different lengths of night and day. The 12 hours of day and 12 hours of night happens only in places near the equator, for example the Philippines. Arctic and Antarctic experience polar day when the Sun stays above the horizon for more than 24 hours and polar night when night lasts for more than 24 hours. NONE OF THIS COULD HAPPEN IF THE EARTH WERE FLAT.

THE BIBLE
Job 26:10  where it teaches that YHWH has “inscribed” a circle on the surface of the waters at the boundary of light and darkness. This boundary between light and darkness is where evening and morning occur. The boundary is a circle since the earth is round.
Job 26:10
He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end. The Bible speaks of the earth’s free float in space: "He...hangs the earth upon nothing
Job 26:7
He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.
The prophet Isaiah also tells us that the earth is round:
Isaiah 40:22
It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:
This is not a reference to a flat disk, as some skeptic maintain, but to a sphere. Secular man discovered this 2,400 years later. At a time when science believed that the earth was flat, is was the Scriptures that inspired Christopher Columbus to sail around the world
